Before enrolling devices, you must create a smart device group that will contain the devices that are enrolled via User Enrollment. This allows you to create and distribute a profile with the basic settings you want devices to have when they enroll in Jamf School via User Enrollment.

  1. In Jamf School, navigate to Devices > Device Groups.
  2. Click + Add Group.
  3. Enter a name for the group in the Group Name field.
  4. (Optional) Enter a description for the group in the Description field.
  5. Select Smart Group for the group type and click Add.
  6. Click the Members payload.
  7. To filter group membership by devices enrolled using User Enrollment, click + Add Filter and do the following:
    1. Choose "Is User Enrolled" from the criteria pop-up menu.
    2. Choose "equals" from the operator pop-up menu.
    3. Choose "Yes" from the value pop-up menu.
  8. (Mobile devices only) To filter group membership by mobile devices with iOS 13.1 or later, click + Add Filter and do the following:
    1. Choose "Operating System" from the criteria pop-up menu.
    2. Choose "equals" from the operator pop-up menu.
    3. Choose "iOS" from the value pop-up menu.
    4. Enter 13.1 in the minimum value field.
  9. (Computers only) To filter group membership by computers with macOS 10.15 or later, click + Add Filter and do the following:
    1. Choose "Operating System" from the criteria pop-up menu.
    2. Choose "equals" from the operator pop-up menu.
    3. Choose "macOS" from the value pop-up menu.
    4. Enter 10.15 in the minimum value field.
  10. Select Match all rules.
  11. Click Save.
