You can obtain a macOS installer application from Apple and prepare it as a DMG built in Composer to host on your Jamf Pro distribution point.

Note:

Although Composer can create both PKG and DMG files, you must save installers as a DMG file from Composer.

  1. Obtain a macOS installer from Apple.
  2. Move the macOS installer to the desired file path location.
    Example:

To place the macOS installer application in the /Applications folder on target computers, move the InstallmacOS[version].app to the /Applications folder on the computer.

  3. Open Composer.app on a test computer.
  4. Drag and drop the InstallmacOS[version].app file into the Composer window.
  5. In the toolbar, click Build as DMG.
  6. Select a location to save the package and click Save.
  7. Upload the DMG file to your Jamf Pro distribution point. For more information, see Package Management in the Jamf Pro Documentation.

You can now stage the macOS installer application on target computers using a policy.
