You can view information collected about a device's Activation Lock status in Jamf Pro, including the Activation Lock bypass code.
- In Jamf Pro, click Computers or Devices in the sidebar.
- Perform a simple or advanced computer or mobile device search.
- Click the computer or mobile device you want to view Activation Lock information for.
- To view the Activation Lock status, click the Inventory tab, and then click the Security category.Note:
Mobile devices that have organization-based Activation Lock enabled will report their Activation Lock status as "Not enabled". This is due to organization-based Activation Lock being entirely a server-side function. For more information, see Determining if Activation Lock is Enabled.
- To view the bypass code, click the Management tab, and then click the Activation Lock bypass category.Note:
The Activation Lock bypass code is collected after enabling Activation Lock and updating inventory with Jamf Pro. After the code is collected, it is deleted from the device but remains available in the management information for the device in Jamf Pro. Jamf Pro collects an updated code each time the device is wiped and re-enrolled. This updated code replaces the existing code in the management information for the device. Jamf Pro also has customizable privileges (In Settings > System > User accounts & groups > Jamf Pro Server Actions) that can be set to ensure only approved administrators can view the code.
Depending on how Activation Lock was enabled on the device, Jamf Pro collects the following types of Activation Lock bypass codes:Bypass Code to Use When Activation Lock is Enabled on the Device—This bypass code is collected if organization-based Activation Lock was enabled directly on the device using Jamf Pro.
Bypass Code to Use When Activation Lock is Enabled by the User—This bypass code is collected if the end user has enabled user-based Activation Lock by signing in to Find My with their Apple Account.
