An SMB share can be used as a file share distribution point with Jamf Pro. This article explains the procedure for setting up an SMB share on a macOS or Windows server for use with Jamf Pro.

File share distribution points hosted on Linux servers are also compatible with Jamf Pro, but this article explains how to set up an SMB share on macOS and Windows servers.
File share distribution points can be added to cloud-hosted or on-premise instances of Jamf Pro, but network limitations may still apply. Contact your network administrator for assistance if managed computers are unable to connect to the file share distribution point.
An AFP share can also be used as a file share distribution point with Jamf Pro, but AFP shares are incompatible with Apple File System (APFS), which is the default file system for computers with macOS 10.13 or later. Computers with macOS 10.13 or later that are HFS+ formatted still support AFP.
