Platform Single Sign-on (Platform SSO) is a framework built into computers with macOS 13 or later that provides users a simpler way to access organization resources protected by a cloud identity provider (IdP). It allows macOS to do the following:
Pair and sync local account credentials with an identity provider password
Pair local account credentials with a smart card
Create a secure, hardware bound non-phishable authentication factor to securely access organization resources
Platform Single Sign-on for macOS requires a cloud IdP to be integrated with Apple's Single Sign-on extension (SSOe) framework. You can use Jamf Pro to enable Platform SSO by deploying a third-party SSOe application to computers in your environment along with a Single Sign-on extension configuration profile.
