Beginning with Jamf Pro 11.3.0, Java 21 is supported and recommended for server environments.

When you are ready to upgrade, you can migrate to a supported distribution of Java 21 on your Jamf Pro server. This migration consists of the following steps:

  1. Stopping Tomcat

  2. Uninstalling Java 11

  3. Installing Java 21

  4. Upgrading Jamf Pro

Note:
Tomcat may fail to start after upgrading to Jamf Pro 11.9.x or later on a Linux server. The catalina.out file may show an error similar to the following:
Unrecognized VM option '<legacy_option_here>
For example:
Unrecognized VM option 'PermSize=256m'
Workaround: Remove any legacy VM options that are no longer supported in Java 21 from the setenv.sh script. For assistance, contact Jamf Support and reference PI120253.
