You can use Jamf Pro to enable organization-based Activation Lock for a device that is in Apple Business or Apple School Manager. You can configure the mobile device PreStage enrollments settings to enable organization-based Activation Lock during enrollment, or use the Set Activation Lock command, which allows you to enable Activation Lock on a currently enrolled mobile device.

Note:

You can also use a mass action to enable device-based Activation Lock on multiple mobile devices at the same time. For more information, see Mass Actions for Mobile Devices.

Requirements

To use Jamf Pro to enable organization-based Activation Lock, you need the following:

  • Mobile devices in Apple Business or Apple School Manager

  • Supervised mobile devices
  1. To enable organization-based Activation Lock during enrollment, do the following:
    1. In Jamf Pro, click Devices in the sidebar.
    2. Click Prestage Enrollments.
    3. Select an existing Prestage Enrollment.
    4. Click Edit .
    5. Select the Prevent user from enabling Activation Lock checkbox.
    6. Select the Enable Activation Lock on the device checkbox.
    7. Click Save .
  2. To enable organization-based Activation Lock after a device is already enrolled, do the following:
    1. In Jamf Pro, click Devices in the sidebar.
    2. Perform a simple or advanced mobile device search.
    3. Click the mobile device you want enable organization-based Activation Lock on.
    4. Click the Management tab, and then click the Set Activation Lock command.
    5. Select Enable Activation Lock on the device and then click Set Activation Lock.
Organization-based Activation Lock is enabled on the device. The Activation Lock status in the device's inventory will display as "Not enabled". For more information on why this is the case, see Determining if Activation Lock is Enabled.
