Creating a Folder as a File Share

  1. Open File Explorer, and then navigate to the folder where you want to create your file share.
  2. Right-click the folder, and then click New > Folder.
  3. Enter a name for your folder, and then press Enter.
  4. Right-click on the newly created folder, and then click Properties.
  5. Click the Sharing tab, and then click Share.
  6. Find and select your previously created read-write account from the pop-up menu.
  7. Repeat steps 5–6 to select your previously created read-only account.
  8. Modify the permission level of the read-write account by clicking on the account and selecting Read/Write.
  9. Click Share, and then click Done.
  10. Right-click the folder again, and then click Properties.
  11. Click the Sharing tab, and then click Advanced Sharing > Permissions.
  12. Click Add, and then enter the name of your read-only account.
  13. Click Check Names, and then click OK.
  14. Click Add, and then enter the name of your read-write account.
  15. Click Check Names, and then click OK.
  16. With the read-write account selected, select the Full Control checkbox.
  17. Click OK.
  18. Click OK again, and then click Close.
