You must configure the database password and backup directory before you can perform database backups.

  1. Execute the following command:
    jamf-pro config set --database-password
  2. When prompted, enter your password. This two-step method prevents your password from being stored in the shell history.
  3. Set the database backup directory to a location that the current user has write access to by executing a command similar to the following for your platform:
    • Linux:
      jamf-pro config set --backup-dir /example/path
    • Windows:
      jamf-pro config set --backup-dir "C:\example\path"
