When distributing and updating apps with App Installers, supporting configuration profiles are required to disable built-in auto-updates for some software titles. To give Jamf Pro administrators more control over App Installers deployments, Jamf Pro includes the option to deploy these supporting configuration profiles automatically, or to create them manually.
Consider the following when choosing the best solution for your environment.
The App Installer deployments are fully automated. You can distribute the app once, and App Installers will provide all required settings to keep the app updated.
If a new configuration profile is required, App Installers will automatically deploy the configuration profile.
You cannot view, modify, or remove the configuration profiles.
- Target computers can only receive one configuration profile per software title, even if the profiles contain different settings. Deploying multiple configuration profiles per software title may cause deployment conflicts that lead to unexpected behavior.Important:
If you have previously created App Installer settings using a configuration profile, Jamf recommends removing these profiles and using the built-in profiles provided by the App Installers service. If you have additional settings not described in this article, the App Installers profiles may conflict with or overwrite these settings.
You have control over the configuration profiles in your scope and can prevent deployment conflicts.
App Installers are not fully automated. You must actively monitor this article for changes to the configuration profiles and the latest version of a given software title. If this article is updated to change information for a software title, and you do not manually update your configuration profiles, app updates may fail.
