Manager for Android connection settings become available after you set up your Manager for Android portal.

Sync Status Tiles

The following connection information is displayed in on the Settings tab.

  • Sync statusThe result of the most recent sync.
  • Eligible to syncThe total number of devices currently enrolled with Jamf Security Cloud services and managed by your UEM solution (not including retired or deleted devices).
  • UEM vendorThe name of the UEM vendor or solution.
  • Last sync start timeThe last time device sync started.
  • Sync errorsThe total number of devices that UEM Connect was not able to sync in the last 24 hours. This contains both already enrolled devices and devices that failed to enroll due to sync errors.
  • Successfully syncedThe total number of individual devices that have successfully synced in the last 24 hours.

Group Membership Mapping

Group membership mapping syncs a group in your UEM solution with a corresponding group in Jamf Security Cloud.

This allows you to use the group structure in your UEM solution to automatically determine group membership in Jamf Security Cloud. You can also move devices between groups entirely within your UEM solution or connected directory service (for example, LDAP).

To use group membership mapping:

  1. Select a UEM group from the pull-down menu. These groups are automatically imported from the UEM solution when it syncs with Jamf Security Cloud.
  2. Select the corresponding Jamf Security Cloud group to which devices found in the previously defined UEM group should be assigned.

You can define multiple group membership mapping rules by clicking Add in the top-right corner of the table. These rules are processed from the top down, so a device in multiple mappings will be put in the Jamf Security Cloud group highest on the list. You can reorder the list with the grabber icon on the left of every mapping rule.

User Data Field Mapping

Use this section to map user-related data fields from your UEM solution to those in Jamf Security Cloud. Specifically, this section enables mapping of values from the connected UEM solution to:

  • Device name

The user's display name in Jamf Security Cloud

  • User name

The user's system username that can be referenced within Jamf Security Cloud (optional)

  • User ID

The user's system username that can be referenced within Jamf Security Cloud (optional)

  • Phone number

    The user's phone number

  • Email

You can change the mapping of the Jamf Security Cloud email address to another value from the UEM solution. This functionality may be useful if you would like to remove any personally identifiable information from the Jamf Security Cloud portal.

Click the Unlock button to configure the value to use instead email's payload, email prefix and email suffix.

    Note:

As a precaution, this option is only available in the interface to new customers that have not yet started to deploy devices using their UEM solution.

If you've already started to deploy devices in your portal, then this option may affect your existing devices. If this applies to you, contact your Jamf Representative, who will be able to assist you with enabling the option and migrating your devices.

For each field, select the desired value from the UEM Values pull-down menu. The metadata is updated for every device in Jamf Security Cloud to match the defined values during the next sync with the UEM solution integration. Use the None option for User name, User ID, and the (Remove phone number) option for Phone number to restrict the personal information that is imported from the UEM solution to Jamf Security Cloud.

Configure UEM Auto-Delete Behavior

In this area, you can choose if devices are kept or removed from Jamf Security Cloud based on changes in your UEM solution. You can choose from the following "automatic device deletion" options in Jamf Security Cloud:

Keep deleted or retired devices in Jamf Security Cloud

In this mode, devices are never automatically deleted from Jamf Security Cloud. When devices are deleted or retired from the UEM solution (or are removed from a Jamf Security Cloud provisioning group), their corresponding "UEMC" indicator is highlighted in red under Devices > Manage in Jamf Security Cloud. An administrator can manually delete highlighted devices from Jamf Security Cloud. With this option selected, you can search for and remove devices from Jamf Security Cloud when required.

Remove deleted or retired devices from Jamf Security Cloud

Devices are automatically removed from Jamf Security Cloud if they are deleted or retired from the UEM solution. Otherwise, the devices are marked with the red "UEMC" indicator described above for "keep" mode.

Sync Refresh Interval

This configuration defines the interval that UEM Connect should use between synchronizations with the connected UEM solution. The higher the frequency, the more up-to-date the information, but this comes at an UEM infrastructure load cost that must be considered. For example, some UEM solutions only permit a specific number of requests per day to avoid becoming overloaded.

The available options range from 1 to 24 hours.

You can also disable the sync automatically when the account used for syncing is locked or the account password expires. This prevents issuing unnecessary requests towards the UEM solution, which would fail anyway. You will receive an email notification if syncing is paused. This feature can be switched off in Sync refresh interval section of the page in Jamf Security Cloud.
