Best Practice:

Automatically Upload Activation Profiles to Jamf Pro

If you use UEM Connect to integrate Jamf Pro and Jamf Security Cloud, you can configure UEM Connect to automatically send the activation profiles to Jamf Pro. This eliminates the need to manually download and upload them between the portals. To configure this feature in the Jamf Security Cloud portal, go to Integrations > UEM Connect > UEM server configuration: Configuration profile deployment and enter your Jamf Pro API username and password. Once configured, you can deploy the activation profile from Devices > Activation profiles. For more information, see Configuring UEM Connect for Jamf Pro.

Download the required configuration profile in Jamf Security Cloud for iOS and iPadOS devices and upload it into Jamf Pro to enable and enforce the settings required for Jamf Security Cloud to operate.

  1. In Jamf Security Cloud, go to Devices > Activation Profiles.
  2. Select an activation profile.
  3. In the Managed Deployment area, select Jamf Pro.
  4. Under UEM Configuration Profiles, download the required configuration file for iOS and iPadOS devices.
    Note:

There are two configuration files for iOS and iPadOS devices: one for supervised devices, and one for unsupervised. Select the one that applies to your devices. If you have both supervised and unsupervised devices, go through this process twice to download configuration profiles for both types.

  5. In Jamf Pro, click Devices in the sidebar.
  6. Click Configuration profiles in the sidebar.
  7. Click Upload .
  8. Choose the configuration profile downloaded previously, and then click Upload.
  9. (Optional) Add a Name, Description or Category, if desired.
  10. Click Scope and select the device group to which you want to deploy the profile.
  11. Click Save .
  12. (Optional) If you have a combination of supervised and unsupervised devices, repeat this process for the other supervision status.

The profile is distributed to the deployment targets in the scope the next time the device checks in with Jamf Pro.
