Uploading the Placeholder CSV File

Requirements

Before configuring a placeholder in Jamf School, you must create a CSV file with the serial numbers and other settings for the placeholder devices.

  1. In Jamf School, click Devices > Placeholders in the sidebar.
  2. Click Import Placeholders.
  3. Click Choose > File, and then upload the placeholder CSV file.
  4. Choose the delimiter from the Delimiter pop-up menu.
    Note:

    Jamf recommends using the UTF-8 format.

  5. (Optional) To update device names post-enrollment, select the Apply properties from this CSV to already enrolled devices checkbox.

    The device name is updated immediately in the Jamf School interface. The name on the device updates the next time the device checks in with Jamf School.

  6. Click Start Import.

When a device matching the serial number in the placeholder CSV file is enrolled in Jamf School, it will use the settings configured in the file.
