Requirements
To set a wallpaper on mobile devices, you need a wallpaper image, cropped to size.
It is recommended that you use a wallpaper image that matches the dimensions of the device's screen. For more information on mobile device screen sizes, see Displays from Apple's iOS Device Compatibility Reference and Manuals, Specs, and Downloads from Apple's support website.
- In Jamf School, navigate to in the sidebar.
- Click + Create Profile.
- Select the iOS operating system.
- Select the type of enrollment you want to make the profile for.
- Enter a name in the Profile name field and configure the additional settings as needed, including the time filter.
- Click Finish.
- In the list of payloads on the left side of the pane, locate the iOS payload (Supervised only) category and click the Wallpaper payload.
- Click Configure to configure the settings, including the following:
- From the Select the wallpaper pop-up menu, choose the wallpaper image.
- Add additional text to the image by entering a variable or text in the Text to add to the image field. For more information, see Payload Variables.
- Upload the wallpaper image to by dragging and dropping the file in the Upload new wallpaper field.
- To apply the profile to multiple devices, do the following:
- In the list of payloads on the left side of the pane, locate the General category and click the Scope payload.
- Configure the scope of the profile by clicking the + icon and adding device groups to the profile scope using the pop-up menu.
- Click Save.
- To apply the profile to a single device, do the following:
- Navigate to and locate the device you want to add the profile to.
- Click Managed Profiles.
- Click + Add profiles.
- Locate the profile you want to add and click Add.
- Click Close.
The device or devices in the profile scope immediately receive the configured wallpaper. If a device is not online, the wallpaper installation may be delayed.
Note:
The first time you set the wallpaper on devices with iOS 16 or later or devices with iPadOS 17 or later, the wallpaper is applied to both the Lock Screen and Home Screen. After the initial wallpaper configuration, you can set the wallpaper on the Lock Screen and Home Screen separately.
