To set a wallpaper on a computer, you must build and distribute a package with the wallpaper to target computers before deploying a profile with a Restrictions payload to the target computers. For more information, see Packages and In-House Content Distribution.

  1. In Jamf School, navigate to Profiles > Overview in the sidebar.
  2. Click + Create Profile.
  3. Select the macOS operating system.
  4. Select the type of enrollment you want to make the profile for.
  5. Enter a name in the Profile name field and configure the additional settings as needed, including the time filter.
  6. Click Finish.
  7. In the list of payloads on the left side of the pane, locate the macOS payload category and click the Restrictions payload.
  8. Click Configure and then click the Functionality tab.
  9. Select the Lock Desktop picture checkbox, and then enter the path to the wallpaper image in the Desktop picture path field.
  10. Click Save.
  11. To add the profile to multiple computers, do the following:
    1. In the list of payloads on the left side of the pane, locate the General category and click the Scope payload.
    2. Configure the scope of the profile by clicking the + icon and adding device groups to the profile scope using the pop-up menu.
    3. Click Save.
  12. To apply the profile to a single computer, do the following:
    1. Navigate to Devices > Inventory and locate the device you want to add the profile to.
    2. Click Managed Profiles.
    3. Click + Add profiles.
    4. Locate the profile you want to add and click Add.
    5. Click Close.

After a few minutes, the profile is assigned to the computer or computers in the profile scope and automatically installs. If a computer is not online, the wallpaper installation may be delayed.
