If an app distributed via volume purchasing is not installed on devices, you may need to resync the app licenses during off-peak hours.

Resyncing refreshes the license information between Apple School Manager and Jamf School, which can resolve deployment issues caused by synchronization problems.

Requirements

Verify that there are enough licenses available by navigating to Apps > Inventory in the sidebar, locating the app whose license you want to resync, and reviewing the license usage value displayed next to available: under the name of the app.

If there are not enough app licenses available, add more in Apple School Manager. For information about purchasing app licenses, see Select and buy content in Apple School Manager in the Apple School Manager User Guide.

  1. In Jamf School, navigate to Apps > Inventory in the sidebar.
    Important:

You cannot resync licenses for in-house apps. To ensure you are viewing only apps distributed via volume purchasing, expand the Filter section and choose "Volume Purchasing" from the Source pop-up menu.

  2. Locate the app whose license you want to resync and click the name of the app.
    Best Practice:

Jamf recommends resyncing only one app at a time.

  3. In the Volume Purchasing section, click any of the license usage values — Total, Available, or Used.
  4. Click Resync licenses in the upper-right corner of the pane.

After several hours, the number of assigned licenses will be updated.
