Jamf Account will generate a new license file automatically each year on the subscription start date. Users must manually download the new license file from Jamf Account to prevent any loss of functionality.

Note:

Users with Jamf Connect 2.43 or later will receive a grace period when the license is nearing its annual expiration date. When the grace period has concluded, the About window in Jamf Connect will display "UNLICENSED".

Requirements
  • Access to your Jamf Account portal

  • Access to Jamf School

  • Access to the Jamf Connect Configuration app
    Note:

The Jamf Connect DMG includes the Jamf Connect Configuration app. To install Jamf Connect Configuration, open the Jamf Connect DMG and drag Jamf Connect Configuration to the Applications folder.

  1. In the Jamf Account portal, navigate to the Jamf Connect page.
  2. Click Download license file to download the new Jamf Connect license file.
  3. In Jamf Connect Configuration, create a configuration profile for the new license file by doing the following:
    1. Click the + icon in the lower-left corner of the window.
    2. Click Choose License..., and then upload the new license file.
    3. In the Apple menu bar, click File > Save.
    4. In the Application section, choose Jamf Connect.
    5. In the File Format section, choose Configuration Profile .mobileconfig.
    6. In the Payload Configuration Profile Data section, enter your organization's name in the Organization field.
    7. Click Save.
  4. In Jamf School, upload the configuration profile with the new license file by doing the following:
    1. Navigate to Profiles > Overview in the sidebar.
    2. Click + Create Profile.
    3. Select Upload custom profile.
    4. Upload the configuration profile with the new license file, and then click Next.
    5. Enter a name in the Profile name field, and then click Next.
    6. Ensure the Use time filter checkbox is deselected, and then click Finish.

    1. Navigate to Devices > Inventory in the sidebar.
    2. Click the name of a device to test the profile on.
    3. In the list on the left side of the pane, click Managed Profiles.
    4. In the Profiles pane, click + Add Profiles.
    5. Locate the new Jamf Connect license file profile and click Add on the right side of its row.

The new Jamf Connect license file is deployed to the test device.

After confirming successful deployment to the test device, deploy the new Jamf Connect license file profile to your remaining devices. Then remove the previous Jamf Connect license file profile by navigating to Profiles > Overview in the sidebar and clicking X on the right side of the profile's row. The previous Jamf Connect license file profile will be removed from devices the next time they check in to Jamf School.

Note:

If the previous Jamf Connect license file was added to the menu bar (Jamf Connect 2.45.1 or earlier), account management (Jamf Connect 3.0.0 or later) profile, or login window profile, remove the license file from each profile.

To remove the Jamf Connect license file from a profile, download the profile from Jamf School, open it in Jamf Connect Configuration, click </> in the upper right, remove the LicenseFile key and its associated data from the PLIST file, and save the profile. Then upload the updated profile to Jamf School and deploy it to target devices. After confirming successful deployment to target devices, remove the previous version of the profile.
