You can create a placeholder for a device that is not yet enrolled in Jamf School. Once a device is enrolled, it is assigned to the device group and owner you configured in the placeholder. For example, a placeholder device could be added for a new teacher by scanning the serial number on the box of the iPad and configuring the placeholder in Jamf School by adding the device placeholder as a member of the teacher device group and setting a placeholder name as the device owner.
