You can use Composer to build packages of software, applications, preference files, or documents, and then add printer drivers to Jamf School as packages. A package is a self-contained group of files that can be deployed to remote computers in PKG format. The PKG format allows for easy installation by the user. Double-clicking the package opens the Apple Installer application and guides the user through the installation process.
Note:

The maximum package size you can upload to Jamf School is 5 TB.

By default, Composer builds flat PKGs. For more information on flat PKGs, see Composer Preferences in the Composer User Guide.

Requirements

You must have Composer installed on your Mac computer. To download Composer, go to the Composer Download page in the Jamf Account portal. If you do not have access to Composer in Jamf Account, contact Jamf.

For assistance, log in to Jamf Account, click Resource Center in the lower-left corner of the page, and then click Contact Jamf Account Team.

Note:You must install and package the drivers on the Mac computer you will use to configure the printer management profile.
  1. Open Composer and log in.
  2. Select the package source you want to build from the Sources list in the sidebar.
  3. In the toolbar, select Build as PKG.
Note:If the Build flat PKGs preference is enabled and the package source contains scripts that are not supported by flat PKGs, a dialog will appear. To disable this preference for this package only, click Build as non-flat PKG. To build a flat PKG that ignores unsupported scripts, click Build as flat PKG. For more information about which scripts are supported by flat PKGs, see Package Source Scripts in the Composer User Guide.
  4. Select a location to save the package and click Save.
