Depending on the type of purchase, content purchased through Apple School Manager automatically displays on the Apps > Inventory page or Documents > Inventory page.

Requirements

To distribute app licenses to users, you need:

  • Mobile devices with iOS 15 or later, or iPadOS 15 or later

  • A personal Apple Account or Managed Apple Account assigned to each user

    Note:

    The user must be signed in to the mobile device with their Apple Account to receive content purchased through Apple School Manager.

  • A volume purchasing content token in Jamf School configured for user-based app assignments. For information on configuring a content token for user-based assignments, see Adding a Content Token to Jamf School.

  1. In Jamf School, navigate to Apps > Inventory or Documents > Inventory in the sidebar.
  2. Click the name of the app or book you want to distribute. In the Volume Purchasing section, you can see how many licenses are purchased and how many are still available.
  3. Click Show advanced options.
  4. Select the Automatically distribute licenses to users in scope and Automatically remove licenses from users out of scope checkboxes.
  5. Click the + icon in the lower-left corner and choose the group of devices assigned to users you want to assign the license to. For more information on how to create device groups, see Device Groups.
  6. Click Save.
