You can create a network configuration profile that contains Wi-Fi settings for both computers and mobile devices. This profile only contains Wi-Fi, SCEP, DNS Settings, and Certificates payloads.

  1. In Jamf School, navigate to Profiles > Overview in the sidebar.
  2. Click + Create Profile.
  3. Select Network configuration profile.
  4. Enter a name in the Profile name field and configure the additional settings as needed, including the time filter.
  5. Click Finish.
  6. In the list of payloads on the left side of the pane, locate the Network configuration payload category and click the Wi-Fi payload.
    Note:

If you want to use a SCEP certificate to authenticate, first click the SCEP payload and configure the settings to be compatible with your certificate authority before configuring the Wi-Fi payload.

  7. Click Configure.
  8. From the Network Interface pop-up menu, choose "Wi-Fi".
  9. In the Network SSID field, enter the network name.
  10. From the Security pop-up menu, choose the security type.
    Note:
If you want to use a SCEP certificate to authenticate, you must specify additional security information. The following steps include commonly used values, but your settings may vary based on your environment. Consult with your network team to determine the applicable values to enter in the security fields.
    1. From the Security pop up menu, choose "WPA2 Enterprise".

    2. In the Supported types section, select the TLS checkbox.

    3. From the Identity certificate pop-up menu, choose the identity certificate that you configured in the SCEP payload.

  11. In the Password field, enter the network password.
  12. From the Proxy type pop-up menu, choose a proxy and configure the proxy settings.
  13. From the Fast Lane QoS Marking pop-up menu, choose a setting.
  14. Configure additional settings as needed.
  15. To add another network, click Configure a new network and repeat steps 8 through 14.
  16. In the list of payloads on the left side of the pane, locate the General category and click the Scope payload.
  17. Configure the scope of the profile by clicking the + icon and adding device groups to the profile scope using the pop-up menu. For more information, see Device Groups.
  18. Click the Settings icon on the right side of the page, and do one of the following:
    • To install the profile on devices automatically, click Change to automatic installation for all groups.

    • To allow users to install the profile themselves, click Change to on-demand installation for all groups. The profile will be available for users to install in the Jamf Teacher or Jamf School Student apps.

  19. Click Save.

You now have a network configuration profile that contains Wi-Fi settings for both mobile devices and computers.

If you want to use this profile for use with Return to Service for mobile devices, see Returning an MDM-Erased Mobile Device to Service .
