Creating One Placeholder Device

  1. In Jamf School, click Devices > Placeholders in the sidebar.
  2. Click + Add Placeholder.
  3. Use the Add Placeholder pop-up dialog to configure the basic settings including a name, serial number, and device owner.
  4. Click Add.

When a device matching the serial number in the placeholder is enrolled in Jamf School, it will use the settings configured in the placeholder.

If you choose to export your placeholder device via a CSV file, click Export.
Note:

When using the MemberOfGroups field, you need to manually add a MemberOfGroups column to the CSV file in order to use the field.
