Configuring an AirPrint Profile

Requirements

To configure AirPrint, you need a printer that supports AirPrint. For more information, see the About AirPrint article from Apple's support website.

  1. In Jamf School, navigate to Profiles > Overview in the sidebar.
  2. Click + Create Profile.
  3. Select the iOS or macOS operating system.
  4. If you selected the iOS operating system, select the type of enrollment you want to make the profile for.
  5. If you selected the macOS operating system, select the Device Enrollment enrollment type.
  6. Enter a name in the Profile name field and configure the additional settings as needed, including the time filter.
  7. Click Finish.
  8. In the list of payloads on the left side of the pane, locate the iOS payload or macOS payload category depending on the operating system of the devices you are creating a profile for and click the AirPrint payload.
  9. Click Configure.
  10. In the IP Address field, enter the IP address of the printer.
    Example:

    192.0.21

  11. (For iOS 11.0 or later only) In the Port field, enter the network port for the printer.
  12. In the Resource Path field, enter the resource path of the printer.
    Example:

    ipp/printer

  13. (For iOS 11.0 or later only) To enable Transport Layer Security (TLS), select the Force TLS checkbox.
  14. To add another printer, click Add AirPrint printer and repeat steps 10 through 13.
  15. Click Save.
  16. In the list of payloads on the left side of the pane, locate the General category and click the Scope payload.
  17. Configure the scope of the profile by clicking the + icon and adding device groups to the profile scope using the pop-up menu.
  18. Click the Settings icon on the right side of the page, and do one of the following:
    • To install the profile on devices automatically, click Change to automatic installation for all groups.

    • To allow users to install the profile themselves, click Change to on-demand installation for all groups. The profile will be available for users to install in the Jamf Teacher or Jamf School Student apps.

  19. Click Save.
