Requirements
To configure a layout for devices, you need supervised devices with iOS 9.3 or later or tvOS 11 or later.
Note:

Only one layout can be applied to a device at a time.

  1. In Jamf School, navigate to Profiles > Overview in the sidebar.
  2. Click + Create Profile.
  3. Select the iOS or tvOS operating system or select Upload custom profile.
  4. Select the type of enrollment you want to make the profile for.
  5. Enter a name in the Profile name field and configure the additional settings as needed, including the time filter.
  6. Click Finish.
  7. In the list of payloads on the left side of the pane, locate the iOS payload (Supervised only) or tvOS payload (Supervised only) category depending on the operating system of the devices you are configuring a profile for and and click the Layout payload.
  8. Click Configure to configure basic settings, including dragging and dropping apps in the desired layout. Apps must be installed in order to display on the device.
    Note:

    If the iPad has the "Bigger" Home screen layout setting configured, only 20 apps display on each screen. Additional apps move to the next screen.

  9. If you want to only display the apps selected in the layout on the device, select the Override the safelist and blocklist settings with this layout checkbox.
  10. In the list of payloads on the left side of the pane, locate the General category and click the Scope payload.
  11. Configure the scope of the profile by clicking the + icon and adding device groups to the profile scope using the pop-up menu.
  12. Click the Settings icon on the right side of the page, and do one of the following:
    • To install the profile on devices automatically, click Change to automatic installation for all groups.

    • To allow users to install the profile themselves, click Change to on-demand installation for all groups. The profile will be available for users to install in the Jamf Teacher or Jamf School Student apps.

  13. Click Save.
