  1. In Jamf School, navigate to Profiles > Overview in the sidebar.
  2. Click + Create Profile.
  3. Select the macOS operating system.
  4. Select the type of enrollment you want to make the profile for.
  5. Enter a name in the Profile name field and configure the additional settings as needed, including the time filter.
  6. Click Finish.
  7. In the list of payloads on the left side of the pane, locate the macOS payload category and click the Dock payload.
  8. Click Configure.
  9. Configure basic Dock settings, such as the Dock size, magnification level, minimize effect, window tab behavior when opening documents, and position. You can also configure additional Dock behavior options using the checkboxes in the Options section.
  10. (Optional) Configure the apps, folders, or files that will display in the Dock by clicking + in the respective section and then entering the full path to the item.
    Example:

    /System/Applications/Calendar.app

    Note:
    • When entering an item's path, do not include a ~ in the path, and do not replace spaces in the path with

%20. If the path is not configured correctly, the Dock will display a question mark for the item.
    • You can view the path to an app, folder, or file on a computer by opening Terminal, locating the item in Finder, and dragging the item into the Terminal window. If the path has a space in it, Terminal will display a backslash before the space in the item's path (e.g., /System/Applications/App\ Store.app). When entering the item's path in Jamf School, remove the backslash before the space.

  11. (Optional) To merge the settings configured in the Dock payload with users' existing Dock settings and allow users to adjust the Dock, select the Merge with User’s Dock checkbox.
    Note:

If you do not select the Merge with User’s Dock checkbox, the Dock will be locked and users will not be able to adjust it.

  12. (Optional) In the Add other folders section, select the checkbox next to each folder that you want to display in the Dock.
    Note:

The My Apps folder is only supported in Simple Finder environments, and the Network Home folder is only supported for mobile accounts.

  13. In the list of payloads on the left side of the pane, locate the General category and click the Scope payload.
  14. Configure the scope of the profile by clicking the + icon and adding device groups to the profile scope using the pop-up menu.
  15. Click the Settings icon on the right side of the page, and do one of the following:
    • To install the profile on devices automatically, click Change to automatic installation for all groups.

    • To allow users to install the profile themselves, click Change to on-demand installation for all groups. The profile will be available for users to install in the Jamf Teacher or Jamf School Student apps.

  16. Click Save.
