Automated Software Updates
The Software Updates component now supports automated software update enforcement for OS updates for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS. This feature leverages declarative device management and Apple's software update feeds to automatically generate and deploy update declarations when a new OS version is detected, eliminating the manual process of repetitive management tasks when a new OS is released.
You can configure enforcement thresholds up to 30 days after Apple releases a new OS at any local time. For example, you can enforce updates 14 days after Apple's release at 6:00 PM local time, and the blueprint will seamlessly handle the deployment workflow for the devices in scope at the set date and time.
To configure this setting, create or edit an existing blueprint with a Software Updates component. Select Latest OS version as the enforcement type, and then configure settings based on the needs of your organization.
Changes and Improvements
Blueprints now supports Apple's custom regex functionality within the Passcode Policy component, enabling administrators to define sophisticated password complexity requirements using regular expressions. This functionality is designed for advanced use cases where standard passcode settings are insufficient.
