Blueprint Builder and Components Library

You can now build custom blueprints using the blueprint builder and declarations available in the components library. The blueprint builder allows you to create complex blueprints by selecting multiple declarations from the components library. You can drag each declaration into a specific deployment order and then configure the settings and scope for each component. For more information, see Blueprint Builder.

Software Update Settings Declaration Configuration

The Software Update Settings declarative configuration is now available in Jamf School blueprints. This component allows you to control software update management by:
  • Defining which types of users have permissions to perform updates

  • Customizing how updates are presented to users

  • Controlling enrollment into beta programs

  • Setting deferral periods for different types of updates

  • Managing Rapid Security Response installations and rollbacks

The Software Update Settings component is available for computers with macOS 15.0 or later and mobile devices with iOS 18.0, iPadOS 18.0, and tvOS 18.4 or later. Not every setting is available for each OS type. Additionally, if you have existing configuration profiles with equivalent settings, some settings configured in the blueprint will override those existing settings. For more information, see Blueprints Components Reference.

For more information about using declarative device management to configure the software update process, see the following documentation in Apple Platform Deployment:
