Levels of Compatibility

The following table provides descriptions of the levels of compatibility for Jamf Safe Internet testing and product issue support:

OS compatibility requirements apply to all Jamf Safe Internet capabilities that run via the Jamf Trust app.

Jamf Safe Internet capabilities are compatible with supervised and unsupervised iOS and iPadOS devices and with physical devices and eSIMs. For more detailed information on eSIM support, contact Jamf Support.
On iOS and iPadOS, Jamf Safe Internet capabilities are delivered via the combination the Jamf Trust app and the in-network vectoring method. A partial deployment is not supported and may result in unexpected behavior. The network configuration can be delivered as a VPN configuration.
Important:
If you have Shared iPads in your environment, do not install the Jamf Trust app on these devices. You only need to distribute an activation profile to enable portal capabilities. For more information about Shared iPads, see Shared iPad overview from Apple Platform Deployment.
Due to limitations with macOS 14.x and earlier, Jamf Safe Internet for macOS is not compatible with EPP/EDR software that deploys a firewall network extension on the endpoint (for example, Microsoft Defender or CrowdStrike Falcon). To avoid this compatibility issue, Jamf recommends updating your devices to macOS 15.x or later.

Keep the following browser considerations in mind:

Some browsers, like Opera and Puffin, use their own DNS servers for resolving IP addresses. Jamf recommends applying app restrictions to block content with non-compatible browsers.
In Google Chrome, macOS Screen Time can cause conflicts when Jamf Safe Internet is active if filtering rules contradict or overlap, and Screen Time may intercept or block DNS queries from Jamf Safe Internet. In addition, Chrome may fail to authenticate SSL certificates from Jamf Safe Internet, or bypass content filtering when DoH is enabled. If you must use Chrome, you can try the following workarounds:
- Review the Jamf Domains Safelist Reference and ensure that all domains used either by all Jamf products and apps, or by Jamf Safe Internet only, are allowed, including https://radar.wandera.com, https://safe.jamf.com, and https://us.safe.jamfcloud.com. If necessary, configure exceptions in the device settings.
- Temporarily disable Screen Time during Jamf Safe Internet sessions.
