This article covers deployment of the PIXM browser extensions on an organization’s Jamf Pro managed Mac devices. The extension deployment covers Chrome, Firefox and Safari browsers. The deployment will require access to the below files, which you should confirm before proceeding.
Requirements
- PixmMacInstaller_0.1.0.8.pkg
- PixmMacUninstaller_0.1.0.8.pkg
- Profile for Pixm Chrome Extension Prod
- Profile for Pixm Firefox Extension Prod
- Upload the installer and uninstaller packages to Jamf Pro.
- Log in to Jamf Pro and go to Settings > Computer Management > Packages.
- Click New and upload PixmMacInstaller_0.1.0.8.pkg.
- Repeat the process for PixmMacUninstaller_0.1.0.8.pkg.
- Create a Smart Group to track installations.
- Go to Computers > Smart Computer Groups and click New.
- Name it Computers With Pixm pkg Installed.
- Add the criterion “Packages Installed By Casper” with the value PixmMacInstaller_0.1.0.8.pkg.
- Deploy the Pixm installer.
- Go to Computers > Policies and click New.
- Use “Recurring Check-in” as trigger and “Once per computer” as frequency.
- Add the installer package under Packages > Configure.
- Ensure “Update Inventory” is enabled under Maintenance.
- Add target devices under Scope.
- Deploy the Chrome browser extension.
- Go to Configuration Profiles and upload Profile for Pixm Chrome Extension Prod.
- Remove the signature if prompted.
- Set Scope to the Smart Group: Computers With Pixm pkg Installed.
- Deploy the Firefox browser extension using the same steps as Chrome.
Use Profile for Pixm Firefox Extension Prod instead.
- Deploy the Safari extension (requires Apple Business Manager and user interaction).
- In Apple Business Manager, assign licenses for Pixm Desktop.
- In Jamf Pro, go to Mac Apps, locate Pixm Desktop, and click Edit.
- Click Force Update and set Distribution to “Install Automatically/Prompt Users”.
- Set Scope to Computers With Pixm pkg Installed.
- In Managed Distribution, enable “Assign Content Purchased in Volume”.
PhishID (Pixm) and all browser extensions will be deployed to target Macs through Jamf Pro.
