  1. In Jamf Protect, navigate to Actions > Data Endpoints and click + Add.
  2. Select Log File and click + Add.
  3. Configure your local log file settings:
    1. In the Path field, enter the location in which to store the log file.
    2. In the Ownership field, enter the user and group who own the local log files in the format of user:group.
    3. In the Permissions field, enter the four-digit number combination representing user permission categories.

      For example, the combination 0640 sets the user to read and write permissions, the group to read-only permissions, and non-users to no permissions.

    4. Set the Max log file size in megabytes (MB) for the log file before rotating to a new log file.

      Additional log files append a sequential number to their name. For example, logfile, then logfile1.

    5. Set the Max number of backups to determine how many historical log files to retain during rotation before their deletion.
  4. (Optional)
    1. Select the level of Alerts you want to send to the local log file.
    2. Select if you want to collect Telemetry and Unified Logs in the local log file.
  5. Select if you want to send Telemetry and Unified Logs to the syslog server.
  6. Click Save.
