The macOS Security threat prevention feature has been redesigned and is being made available as a public beta. Improvements made to threat prevention include the following:

  • Ease of configuration

  • Enhanced security offerings via threat prevention engines

  • Increased transparency of covered threats

  • Improved customization options

Before enrolling in the public beta, review the Threat Prevention Public Beta Requirements and Limitations to ensure that the beta functionality meets your needs.

The threat prevention public beta is accessed on the Plans page by creating a new plan, or editing an existing plan. To participate in the public beta you need to select Enable beta on the Plan settings page. After enabling the macOS Security beta, a Beta Agreement window appears, which includes a link to the Jamf Software License and Services Agreement. You must select the checkbox and agree to the terms before you can enable the threat prevention beta.

Important:

This beta feature can be enabled by any user who is assigned permission to edit plans on the tenant. Before you enable the new threat prevention beta feature, ensure that your colleagues are aware of the changes they will encounter.

If you choose not to enroll in the threat prevention public beta, you will still have access to your legacy threat prevention configuration settings. While enrolling in the beta is not required at this time, it does offer the opportunity to experience product improvements and provide Jamf with valuable feedback and metrics related to new functionality. The legacy threat prevention documentation can still be accessed under Threat Prevention with Jamf Protect (Legacy).

The legacy threat prevention functionality will be deprecated in a future release of Jamf Protect macOS Security.
