Jamf Protect provides a default Exception Set that offers an out-of-the-box solution which balances securing your endpoints which may impact the user experience.

The Jamf Managed Default Exceptions is maintained and updated by Jamf. From the Plans page, click the Exception Sets tab to view the default exception set. Jamf Protect administrators will be able to view which exceptions are included, but unable to make edits.

Jamf-managed Exception Sets are comprised of File System Event rules and Process Event rules. File System Event rules prevent monitoring of common, high-volume directories on macOS. Process Event rules prevent monitoring of high-volume processes on macOS. This includes the following common security applications:

  • G4K4BQ7S8J - Backblaze
  • 7AGZNQ2S2T - Carbon Black
  • PXPZ95SK77 - PA (Palo Alto) Networks

The Jamf Managed Default Exceptions set can be added to plans in addition to custom Exception Sets created by Jamf Protect administrators. Jamf recommends using the Jamf Managed Default Exceptions set with your plans in order to reduce high resource utilization on endpoints. Existing plans will automatically include the Jamf Managed Default Exceptions Set.
