You can create an activation profile in the Jamf Security Cloud that enables Content controls and Network security service capabilities.

Requirements

Administrator access to your Jamf Security Cloud portal

  1. In Jamf Security Cloud, navigate to Devices > Activation profiles.
  2. Click Create profile.
  3. On the Capabilities and routing page, select the Content controls and Network security service capabilities.
    Note:

If you use other tools in your DNS environment, you can use the Enable network compatibility mode switch in the Traffic vectoring section to create an activation profile with no DNS filtering. This maximizes compatibility with your existing DNS architecture to ensure devices do not display any unexpected behaviors from duplicated or conflicting settings between solutions. When using network compatibility mode, ensure your existing DNS security solutions provide adequate threat protection, as Jamf's DNS-based threat prevention will not be active.

  4. (Optional) On the User identification page, confirm which IdP connection to use for the activation profile and then click Next.

Choosing an IdP Connection requires users to sign-in to the Jamf Trust app using their organization credentials to enroll the device.

  5. On the Advanced settings page, specify additional settings for the profile, such as the profile's expiration date.

Available settings depend on which service capabilities you selected for the activation profile.

  6. On the Naming and grouping page, enter general information about the profile:
    1. Enter a descriptive name for the activation profile.
      Best Practice:

Use descriptive names and a consistent naming convention for all activation profiles in your environment.

    2. Choose a device group to associate with the profile.
Devices that use the activation profile to enroll are automatically added to this group in the Jamf Security Cloud portal.
Note:If UEM Connect is configured, this group is overwritten during the next UEM Connect sync.
  7. On the Review page, confirm the details of the activation profile and then click Save and create.

The activation profile is available in the portal.

You can now configure or review your internet and security policies for devices and prepare for distributing the activation profile and Jamf Trust app.
