Use the following steps to configure UEM Signaling to control tethering on end user devices:

  1. Adding a Custom Attribute in Ivanti Neurons for MDM (Ivanti N-MDM) (formerly known as MobileIron Cloud)
  2. Creating a Device Group in Ivanti N-MDM
  3. Creating a Custom Configuration in Ivanti N-MDM
  4. Editing the Device Group in Ivanti N-MDM
Note:

UEM Signaling is a tool that replaces the legacy Tethering control in Policy 1 for iOS devices.

The steps below apply to iOS devices but UEM Signaling is not limited to iOS devices.

Ensure that you are fully familiar with setting up your Data Usage policy before proceeding with these tasks. For more information, see Data Usage Policy Settings.

While a device is roaming, the tethering sessions should always be disabled if you want to prevent high data consumption.

For a domestic device, the tethering sessions will be disabled after a device reaches a preconfigured data limit according to the data usage policy that you assign to the device.
