Configuring the SMTP Server Settings for Basic Credentials

  1. In Jamf Pro, click Settings in the sidebar.
  2. In the System section, click SMTP server .
  3. Click Edit .
  4. Use the Enable SMTP server switch to enable SMTP server.
  5. Select Basic Credentials from the Authentication method pop-up menu.
  6. Enter a server and port number in the Server and port field.
    Example:

    smtp.serveraddress.com : 465

    Note:

    To help keep data and communications as secure as possible, port 25 is blocked in Jamf Cloud and cannot be opened. Jamf recommends using port 587 with TLS.

  7. Select an encryption protocol from the Encryption pop-up menu.
  8. Enter a value in the Connection timeout field.
  9. Enter your Jamf Pro username and password in the Username and Password fields.
  10. Enter a display name in the Sender display name field.
    Note:

    This field must only contain the following:

    • Letters (A-z)

    • Numbers

    • Periods

    • Spaces between names (e.g., Samantha Johnson)

  11. Enter an email address in the Sender email address field.
    Note:

    This email account must be associated with the SMTP server used in step 6.

  12. (Optional) If your SMTP server requires authentication, select the Requires authentication checkbox, and configure the necessary fields.
  13. Click Save .

Jamf Pro is now configured to send email notifications.
