You can unmanage a computer to stop Jamf Pro's communication and management capabilities for that computer. Unmanaging a computer does not remove the inventory record from Jamf Pro.

Requirements

Physical or remote access to the target computer

  1. Open Terminal on the target computer, or remotely access it via SSH.
  2. Remove all Jamf management framework components that were installed by Jamf Pro by executing the following command:

    sudo /usr/local/bin/jamf removeFramework

  3. If you enrolled the computer with a non-removable MDM profile, then you must remove the MDM profile via Jamf Pro by doing the following:
    1. In Jamf Pro, click Computers.
    2. Search for the target computer.
    3. Click the Management tab.
    4. Click Remove MDM Profile.
The MDM Profile is removed from the computer.
  4. (Optional) Delete the computer record from Jamf Pro.

Deleting records for unmanaged computers helps ensure your inventory and license counts are accurate.

For more information, see Deleting a Computer from Jamf Pro.

All components installed by Jamf Pro are removed. Jamf Pro will no longer communicate with or perform management tasks on the computer.
