Jamf Pro allows you to create smart groups for managed computers, mobile devices, or users. Smart group membership is dynamically updated based on the criteria you add to the smart group. You can create smart groups based on one or more inventory criteria. For example, you can create a smart group that includes only MacBook computers with the latest version of macOS installed, or that only includes iPads that have not updated inventory in two weeks.
To avoid issues, smart group criteria should be well-defined and avoid using circular recalculations where two smart groups rely on the membership of the other. If two smart groups rely on the membership of the other, both groups will recalculate their membership when there is a change in either group, which may affect server performance. Jamf recommends you use smart groups for scoping, deployment, and actionable items. For information gathering, queries, and reports, use the advanced search feature.

After creating a smart group, you can view its membership.
