You can use Apple's Shared iPad feature to allow multiple users to share the same iPad. Shared iPad ensures each user receives a personalized experience that remains secure and private. Each Shared iPad user's Managed Apple Account is managed by the organization, helping protect individual user information.
Shared iPad is useful when you have an iPad that is not assigned to a specific person, but still needs to access resources from a Managed Apple Account. For example, in a school that uses carts in the classroom, students can pick up any device and log in to it with their Managed Apple Account created in Apple School Manager.
When a user logs in to a Shared iPad device with their Managed Apple Account, they initiate a private, secure iPad session. When the same user logs out, their session data is backed up to iCloud and remains invisible and inaccessible to the device's other users.
Guest users can also log in to Shared iPad devices. Guest users receive a unique, temporary session each time they log in; all temporary guest user session data is deleted when they log out.
Shared iPad is not required in all multiple-user situations. For example, Shared iPad may not be needed if an organization only needs a couple of apps installed on an iPad that is being used within a small department and doesn't include sensitive information. In this case, anyone can pick up and use the iPad to complete their tasks.
You can set up Shared iPad using Jamf Pro with Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager.
