PreStage enrollments allow you to enforce a minimum iOS or iPadOS version that a device must have before the device enrolls with Jamf Pro. If a device does not have the operating system version you specified in Jamf Pro, the user is prompted to update the operating system on the device before Setup Assistant continues during Automated Device Enrollment.

Keep the following in mind:
  • If you are using the returnToService option in the Jamf Pro API to re-enroll mobile devices with Jamf Pro, minimum OS enforcement settings will not be applied and the devices will enroll without requiring the update.

  • If the Apple Software Update Lookup Service determines the enrolling device is ineligible for the selected update version, the device will continue enrollment without requiring the update.
