You can use a configuration profile with the Lock Screen Message payload to place a custom message on the Lock Screen of mobile devices in your environment.
Example:
You can create a workflow for naming your devices during enrollment and then using the steps on this page to display that device name on the Lock Screen. This involves configuring the Mobile device names payload in the Prestage Enrollment settings for mobile devices, setting the $DEVICENAME variable as the asset tag, and then using the $DEVICENAME variable in the Asset Tag Information field of a Lock Screen Message configuration profile. The resulting profile can be scoped to all devices.
In Jamf Pro, click Devices in the sidebar.
Click Configuration Profiles in the sidebar.
Click New .
Use the General payload to configure basic settings for the profile, including the level at which to apply the profile and the distribution method.
Click the Lock Screen Message payload.
Type your Lock Screen message in the Lock Screen Footnote field.
(Optional) Type an additional message in the Asset Tag Information field.
Note:
You can use variables such as $SERIALNUMBER or $DEVICENAME in both the Lock Screen Footnote and Asset Tag Information fields. This is particularly useful if you are using payload variables as asset tags. To use variables in a configuration profile, the corresponding inventory field must be filled in with the appropriate data. For more information on using payload variables in mobile device configuration profiles, see Payload Variables for Configuration Profiles.
Click the Scope tab, and then configure the target devices or device groups.
Click Save .
The profile is distributed and the lock screen message is displayed on the devices in scope.
