Single App Mode allows you to configure a device for a specific purpose. Using Single App Mode lets you lock any supervised iPad, iPhone, or Apple TV to one app to focus the device for a single need.
Requirements
To set a device to Single App Mode, you need a supervised iPad or iPhone with iOS 9 or later, or a supervised Apple TV with tvOS 9 or later. For more information on supervised devices, see Supervision.
Note:
You can only enable Single App Mode for apps managed by Jamf Pro, as well as unmanaged built-in system apps, such as Books, Music, and Safari. Single App Mode cannot be applied to user-installed apps.
You cannot deploy OS updates to devices in Single App Mode. You also cannot manually or automatically update an app while it is the focus of Single App Mode. Jamf recommends you ensure that all updates are complete before placing a device into this mode.
In Jamf Pro, click Devices in the sidebar.
Click Configuration Profiles in the sidebar.
Click New .
Use the General payload to configure basic settings for the profile.
Click the Single App Mode payload.
Click Configure.
Under Target Operating System, choose the operating system of the devices that the profile will be deployed to.
For the purposes of this profile, the iOS option includes iPadOS devices.
Under Lock to App, do one of the following:
Use the pop-up menu to select the app you want devices to be locked to.
Select Specify Bundle ID from the pop-up menu, and then enter the Bundle ID of the app you want devices to be locked to.
(Optional) In the Options section, configure additional settings that should be enforced on target devices.
(Optional) In the Allow the user to change these settings when in Single App Mode section, configure settings that users should be able to enable or disable manually on target devices.
Click the Scope tab, and then configure the target devices or device groups.
Click Save .
Jamf Pro deploys the configuration profile to the target devices, enabling Single App Mode with the specified settings.
