You can use Jamf Parent to restrict device functionality on your child's school-issued device by restricting apps by category, such as social media, games, or shopping. You can also restrict built-in apps, such as Camera.
- Tap the child's device you want to apply app restrictions to.
- Tap Restrictions.
- Under App categories, select the checkbox next to each app category you want to restrict. All other app categories will be allowed.
Note:When restricting apps by category, apps are restricted based on the category assigned by their developers in the Google Play Store. To determine an app's category, locate it in the Google Play Store and review the app details.
If an app belongs to a category that is not supported in Jamf Parent, you cannot restrict the app by category. Instead, locate the app under Device functionality.
- Under Device functionality, select the checkbox next to each built-in app you want to restrict. All other built-in apps will be allowed.
- Tap Save in the upper-right corner.
The Restrictions settings are applied to the child's device.
If a child's device is offline, the settings will be applied the next time the device is online.
To remove Restrictions settings, tap Restrictions and deselect the checkboxes next to the app categories and built-in apps you want to remove or tap Clear All to remove all applied Restrictions settings at once, then tap Save.
