Allowing and Restricting Websites - Jamf Parent Guide for Parents

You can use Jamf Parent to choose which websites your child can access on their school-issued device by configuring an allowed websites list or a blocked websites list.

Note:

This feature may not be supported on your Jamf Parent app depending on the software your school uses to manage your child's school-issued device.

Allowed websites —The child's device can access only the listed websites.
Blocked websites —The child's device can access all websites except for the listed websites.

Requirements

Ensure that Safari is configured as an allowed app. For more information about configuring allowed apps, see Allowing Apps.

In the lower section of the screen, tap the child device you want to apply website restrictions to.
Use the switch next to Websites to display the Websites section.
Under Websites, tap Allow to create an allowed websites list or tap Block to create a blocked websites list.
Next to Websites, tap the + button.
Enter the URL of the website you want to either allow or block, depending on your selection in step 3, then tap Done or + to add it to the list.
Best Practice:
Some websites may automatically redirect users to a URL that is different from the one originally entered. For example, if a child enters www.bbc.co.uk, they may be automatically redirected to www.bbc.com. To ensure the child can access the intended website or that the intended website is blocked, add both the original website URL and the redirect website URL to the list.
Repeat step 5 as needed to add more websites to the list.
Tap Save in the upper-right corner.

The specified list of allowed or blocked websites is applied to the child's device.

If a child's device is offline, the settings will be applied the next time the device is online.

To remove Websites settings from the child's device, do one of the following:

To remove specific allowed or blocked websites, tap the trash button next to each website you want to remove.
To remove all applied allowed or blocked websites at once without saving your list, tap the + button next to Websites and tap Clear all, then tap Save.
To remove all applied allowed or blocked websites at once and save your list to reapply later, use the switch next to Websites to hide the Websites section.
Note:
Turning the Websites switch on again displays the Websites section and reapplies your configured allowed or blocked websites list to the child's device.
