You can add a child's device to Jamf Parent by scanning a QR code in the Jamf School Student app using a mobile device with Jamf Parent installed on it.
On the child's device, open the Jamf School Student app.
Tap the child's avatar.
Tap Authorize parent. A QR code displays and is valid for one minute.
Note:
The QR code can only be scanned once and a new one is automatically generated after the code is scanned or after one minute has elapsed.
On the parent device, open Jamf Parent and tap Get started.
Tap Scan QR Code and use the parent device to scan the QR code displayed on the child's device.
Enter the parent device name you want to display in the list of supervising devices. The name will be visible in the list on your device, the child's device, and any other devices supervising the child's device.
Note:
The device name will apply to all subsequent child device pairings. If you unpair all child devices from your parent device, you will be prompted to enter a parent device name again when you add a new child device.
Tap Confirm to manage the child's device.
If you want to add another child's device, tap the parent and child button in the upper-left corner, then tap Add child and repeat steps 1 through 3 on the child's device, then steps 5 through 7 on the parent device.
The child's device is paired with the parent device in Jamf Parent.
If two or more parents want to manage the same child's device with Jamf Parent, you must tap Authorize parent on the child's device again to generate a new QR code before scanning the code on the second parent device with Jamf Parent.
A notification displays on the parent device each time a new supervising device is paired to the child's device. You can view a list of supervising devices for the child's device by tapping the more options button in the upper-right corner of Jamf Parent and tapping Supervising devices. If the list contains devices you do not recognize or want supervising the child's device, contact your school's IT administrator.
