To manage your child's device using Jamf Parent, you must pair your device with the child's device. The pairing process involves scanning a QR code displayed on your child's device in Self Service or Jamf School Student. The following workflow provides steps to determine which app is on your child's device and how to pair your devices.

  1. On the child's device, tap Settings and then tap Apps. Look for either "Self Service" or "Student" in the list and open the applicable app.
  2. Depending on which app is on your child's device, do the following:
    • If you opened Self Service, tap the QR code button in the upper-right corner of the app. A QR code displays.

    • If you opened Jamf School Student, tap the child's avatar and then tap Authorize parent. A QR code displays and is valid for one minute.
      Note:

The QR code can only be scanned once and a new one is automatically generated after the code is scanned or after one minute has elapsed.

  3. On the parent device, open Jamf Parent and tap Get started.
  4. Tap Scan QR Code and use the parent device to scan the QR code displayed on the child's device.
  5. Tap Confirm to manage the child's device.
  6. If you want to add another child's device, tap +Add Child and repeat steps 1 through 5.

The child's device is paired with the parent device in Jamf Parent.
