Integrating Jamf Parent with Jamf School allows administrators to limit the management capabilities of Jamf Parent by doing the following:
Use a profile to enforce passcodes on student devices. For information, see Enforcing a Passcode on a Device in the Jamf School Documentation.
- Prevent students from managing other students' school-issued devices with Jamf Parent by distributing a profile that blocklists the Jamf Parent app on student devices. For more information, see Device Profiles in the Jamf School Documentation.Note:
If an unrecognized device or student device displays on the list of supervising devices, you can unpair the device in Jamf School. Navigate to in the sidebar, click the student's name and then click Edit details. Next to Parents in the Jamf Parent section, click X next to the name of the device you want to unpair from the student device, and then click Save.
Remove restrictions set by Jamf Parent from student devices by using a quick action command. For more information, see Quick Action Commands for Device Management in the Jamf School Documentation.
To integrate the Jamf Parent app with Jamf School, you must enable the app and configure its settings in Jamf School. Then parents can install the Jamf Parent app from the App Store or Google Play on their iOS and Android devices. If parents have an Apple Watch paired with their iPhone, the Jamf Parent app installs on their Apple Watch as well.
There are two ways parents can add their children's devices to Jamf Parent: by using a QR code on the student's device or by using their login credentials created in Jamf School. If parents add their child's device to Jamf Parent by scanning the QR code on the child's device, you do not need to create a parents user group and accounts in Jamf School. If you decide to generate parent accounts in Jamf School, you must create a parents user group and users.
