Before you can deploy apps in Jamf Now, you must purchase and sync the app licenses to your Jamf Now account. You can view your current licenses by clicking Apps in the sidebar. If you need additional app licenses, you can purchase them in Apple Business.

Requirements
  • An administrator account in Apple Business with the ability to purchase content

  • Payment information stored in Apple Business

  1. Log in to Apple Business with your administrator account.
  2. Click Apps & Services > Apps and Books > Apps Store > View Store.
  3. Locate the app using the search bar, and then select the app.
    Note:

Jamf recommends confirming that the app is compatible with your devices. Requirements display under the app name in the Apps and Books window.

  4. Select the organizational unit associated with the content token from Apple Business that you uploaded to Jamf Now. For more information, see Configure organizational units in Apple Business in the Apple Business User Guide.
  5. Enter the number of licenses.
    Note:

Jamf recommends purchasing more licenses than the number of users or devices, depending on the app assignment method you use, in case you need to deploy the app to additional devices in the future.

  6. Click Buy, and then wait for a confirmation email from Apple to confirm the purchase.
  7. Log in to Jamf Now.
  8. In the sidebar, click Apps.
  9. In the Action pop-up menu (...), click Sync Volume Purchased Apps.
    Note:

If you are purchasing app licenses for the first time, the Sync Volume Purchased Apps does not display. You can log out of Jamf Now and log in again to initiate a sync with Apple Business.

The app licenses sync to your Jamf Now account. You can deploy the apps to your devices.

You must redeploy any apps that you deployed without a license.
