You can set up and automatically assign an email account for the Mail app on a device via blueprints. One email account can be set up per device with Jamf Now. You must manually add additional email accounts directly on the device.

If you set up email settings before Open Enrollment, the Open Enrollment page will ask the user for their email address. This will automatically assign the email to this device.

Important:

(macOS only) The email account is only set up on the local Mac user account that was used to enroll with Jamf Now. Other local Mac user accounts cannot remotely receive the email account. For more information on Jamf Now Mac management, see Mac Management Considerations.

Note:

You can manually assign email addresses to a device with its blueprint, device dashboard, or in Jamf Now under Auto-Enrollment > View Devices. For more information on manually assigning email addresses, see the following articles:

  1. Log in to Jamf Now.
  2. Click Blueprints, and then select the blueprint to which you would like to add email settings.
  3. Click the Email payload.
  4. Select your email type from the Email Account pop-up menu. For example, if your organization uses Exchange, you would select "Exchange" from the pop-up menu.
    Note:

The "Google" Email Account option is compatible with iPad and iPhone only. If you are using Gmail, you must enable "Less secure app access" in your Google account settings outside of Jamf Now. For more information on enabling this setting, see the following Google product documentation: Less secure apps & your Google Account.

If you are setting up email accounts using Google Apps for Work, select "Exchange". In the Mail Server field, enter m.google and customize any other additional options.

Selecting Microsoft Office 365 sets the server URL to outlook.office365.com. If your Exchange server uses a different server URL, select Exchange instead.

  5. (Exchange or Other only) Enter your mail server information. Contact your email provider or email server administrator to obtain information on ports and server URLs, and then use the checkboxes in Jamf Now to customize any other additional options.
  6. Click Save Changes.
Note:If you later update the Email settings in the blueprint, saving the setting changes will result in users needing to reauthenticate their email credentials on devices to sign back in.
