A push certificate is an encrypted file generated by Apple that establishes trust between Jamf Now and APNs, and permits Jamf Now to send push notifications through APNs to managed devices. APNs certificates need to be renewed annually for continued device communication.
Jamf Now validates authenticity by comparing the Common Name of the current certificate to the Common Name of the certificate you are attempting to upload. For successful APNs certificate renewal in Jamf Now, you must use the same Apple Account that originally created the certificate. If you do not select a certificate from the Apple account originally used to create it, the Common Names will not match and the renewal will fail. To upload the correct certificate, you must either locate the Apple Account used to create the APNs certificate, or submit a request to Apple to migrate the certificate to another account. Apple can transfer certificate ownership between accounts when provided with proper verification.
