You can deploy Mac apps to computers in one of three ways.
- Volume Purchasing
- If an app is available in the Mac App Store, Jamf recommends deploying the app with volume purchasing. To confirm an app is available, log in to Apple Business or Apple School Manager, navigate to the Apps & Books tab, and then search for the app. You can purchase content licenses that can be synced with Jamf Now and used for app deployment.
For more information, see Setting Up Volume Purchasing with Apple Business.
- Jamf Now App Installers
- If the app is not available in the Mac App Store, Jamf recommends checking if the app is listed in Jamf's App Installers software titles. Deploying Mac apps from Jamf Now App Installers prevents you from needing to locate the PKG from a software provider's website or needing to build it yourself. Same applies to each subsequent app version release.
For more information, see Jamf Now App Installers.
- Mac Packages
- If the app is not available in the Mac App Store or with Jamf Now App Installers, you can manually upload the app to Jamf Now as a PKG. The PKG must be signed, which requires access to an Apple Developer Account.
